The situation on the island in Lord of the Flies erupted due to the events taken place within the moral consciences of the boys. Passive Participation took place on the island on many different occasions. The occurrence of this weak willed act lead to the murder of Simon and Piggy. The boys had to deal their moral consciences being a brunt on their shoulders due to the unfortunate deaths. As boys were killed and beaten, their minds being toyed with, and their morals washed away, would this have taken place with an authority figure present? Golding displays how the evil within a person can be revealed when there is no structure.
