The end product is 2 nuclei with the same number of chromosomes. Not completely cell division.
The Cell Cycle-
During a cell cycle, a cell grows, prepares for division, and divides to from two daughter cells, each of which beginning the cycle new.

Prophase- is the longest phase. First is the appearance of chromosomes. They become visible as a result of the condensing and coiling of the yarn like chromatin. Under a light each chromosome is seen as two identical chromatids. The condensed chromosomes become attached to fibers in the spindle at a point near the centromere of each chromatid. At the end of the phase, the coiling of chromosomes becomes tighter.
