Hugh MacLennan novel Barometer Rising takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1917. The war in Europe continues affecting this town. The city is full of foreign sailors and soldiers from everywhere. This novel is very organized so everything comes in chronologic order, it’s very clear and easy to follow and understand.
