In this paper, “Deconstructing the Essential Father,” by Silverstein and Auerbach, the recurring theme is that while the traditional two-parent household consisting of a married man and woman may be the best environment in which a child can be raised, it is far from the only one that has positive outcomes for the child and can just as often produce many negative outcomes.
