Waltham, Mass. -- Nov. 25 -- The Massachusetts Medical Society today welcomed passage of the Medicare reform bill that avoids another severe cut in Medicare reimbursements for physician services and that provides 40 million of America’s seniors and disabled with a prescription drug benefit.
Thomas E. Sullivan, M.D., president of the 18,000-physician member organization, said, ”This legislation is good news for physicians and their patients, as it averts yet another scheduled cut in physician payments and provides an increase in those payments for two years. This is especially important for physicians in Massachusetts, as health plans in the state typically tie their fee schedules to Medicare payments.”
