Stanley Kowalski is exceptionally dominating over the other characters in Tennessee Williams’ play, “A Streetcar Named Desire.” He is childish and oblivious of his own immature behavior. Throughout the play, he employs violence, sex, and manipulation as a controlling mechanism. Stanley is the man of the household and overpowers his timid wife, Stella. He despises his wife’s sister, Blanche, and constantly condescends her every move. He is also more ambitious than any of his friends and ultimately controls any activities that they all partake in.
