“The Scarlet Letter” is a book written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The three main characters of this story is Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth. This essay will give a brief character analysis on Hester Prynne. Hester Prynne is a woman married to Roger Chillingworth. She is condemned and punished for the evil sin she has committed, adultery. She has to wear a scarlet “a” on her bosom for the rest of her life as a punishment. She also is forbidden to make wedding vails. The scarlet “a” stands for adultery in the beginning of the story, but towards the end it meant able.
