Most mother and teenage son relationships are somewhat strained; however, in the short story “Golden Glass” by Alma Luz Villanvea, a boy named Ted and his mother Vida maintain a very strong relationship.
The reader sees their first hint of Ted and Vida’s close relationship right from the beginning. Ted, we realize, is a young adolescent who is struggling for authority.
