America is a land of freedom where all people no matter what sex, ethnic background, or creed, are equal. America was built on the idea of liberty. When one abuses such a privilege, his or her liberty can be deprived. But, the question is to what extent can America take away a person’s liberty? If one is accused of wrongdoing or a crime in America, and is imprisoned, does he or she automatically waives their rights as a citizen? When first arrested, what rights do you have? When freed from prison what rights do you receive back? Prisoners are citizens accused of breaking some form of the law. Is the punishment passed down upon a prisoner constitutional? What are the rights of a prisoner?
