For years now, I have never understood why marijuana is illegal, yet alcohol is legal. Both alcohol and marijuana prove to be deadly. Both are considered mind-altering substances. If marijuana is a depressant, so is alcohol. If marijuana causes visual impairment, so does alcohol. From a historical perspective, one sees the invalidation of marijuana was the result of prejudice. The change of attitudes and resentment towards Mexican immigrants led marijuana to be illegal.
