The topic that I am going to discuss is legitimacy in politics. Legitimacy in politics could be defined as power that is thought to be fair and true. The example that I am going to use will be the 2000 Presidential Election. It was the Republicans who first bandied the term "coup d'etat" to describe the 2000 presidential election. Since then, many have turned the tables and labeled Bush's victory a coup. Many have said that the 2000 election may have been a Coup d'Etat.
