John F. Nash was born on June 13, 1928 in Bluefield, West Virginia. John grew up in a very basic middle class family. His father was an electrical engineer and had come to Bluefield to work for the Appalachian Electric Power Company. Johns mother was a teacher in the Bluefield school systems. John spent a lot of his childhood reading either at school or at his grandmother’s house. John went through normal schooling. When Nash got to college, he started to become a chemical engineering major but decided to go with math.
