Throughout the Greek world, many mythical and epic heroes have arisen, but none so great as the all powering Odysseus, in Homer’s The Odyssey. To be an epic hero you must hold abilities that seem almost god-like and be able to defeat anything that is thrown at you. Although only human, he holds the characteristics worthy for the gods. Odysseus has the courage and wisdom that help him survive his twenty year ordeal. He has the strength of ten oxen, helping him conquer the battles he faces on the journey home. Carrying the traits of the gods, Odysseus still had some weaknesses.
