Parallel architecture is where multiple processors cooperatively perform computations. The emergence of Reduction instruction-set computers was introduced in 1980. The first instruction set was the complex instruction-set (CISC), this is where machines had multiple addressing modes, variable-length instructions, and large instruction sets. The CISC had the advantage that each mode combination performed its special task efficiently; making it possible to fine-tune performance on large tasks with very different characteristics and computing requirements.
