Ozzie Freedman has very valid questions regarding his religion. He does not go to his mother, because she is older and he doesn't feel he can discuss these religious questions with her.
Ozzie feels Rabbi Binder should be able to answer all of his questions. However, every time Ozzie tries to bring these subjects up, his mother ends up having to come in to see the Rabbi. Ozzie cannot see why other religions (Catholics, which encompass all Protestants to Ozzie) can hold beliefs that Jews cannot. He has feelings about what God should be able to do, especially if he created the entire Earth.
