The Polar Bear is hfound near the North Pole, northern Canada, Alaska and Arctic Islands. It may also inhabit broken ice packs at northern edge of North American continent. The lowlands of Hudson Bay and James Bay, are one of the world's largest denning areas for Polar Bears. The Polar Bear has white fur, while its nose, lips, and eyes are black. With powerful shoulders, webbed paws, and thick oily fur, the Polar Bear is an excellent swimmer. It has the plantigrade feet (heel and sole touching the ground), with five sharp, curved claws on each foot for grasping the ice and holding its prey.
